San Angelo National Bank (Bank) is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules, generally $250,000.

The Bank offers certain negotiable order of withdrawal (NOW) account products that do not qualify as noninterest-bearing transaction accounts under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program, and therefore are not eligible for the guarantee. Many of the Bank’s NOW accounts provide for different rates of interest based on the dollar amount held in the account (referred to as a tiered account). If any interest rate paid on a tiered account exceeds, or potentially could exceed, 0.50%, then the account is not covered under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program, but is still covered up to $250,000 under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance.
